Foreign substances in a bottle can have many causes: Previous contamination and deposits are washed out; the head simply needs a thorough cleaning. Or do you now process recycled material such as PCR on your line, which is actually designed for virgin material? In general, this is not a problem, but PCR involves changing material qualities. We therefore recommend screen changers that regularly and reliably retain foreign substances.

Our screen changers are designed to reduce leakage and injuries, are low-maintenance and particularly user-friendly because you can effortlessly and safely change the screens. Everything used to be better, right? The old technology, for example, was still focused on real performance and durability! In the case of our components, that's true and will continue to be true. Our extrusion heads and extrusion lines can last a good 40 to 45 years before they are ready to retire.

However, during such a long product life, the requirements placed on the machines also change considerably. Especially when processing high PCR contents, the mechanical properties of your bottles can degrade. A good plastic part is already made in the extruder! The die head cannot compensate for what is not homogeneously mixed in the extrusion. Burnt material or the inclusion of foreign substances also have a significant effect on the appearance of your product.

A responsible use of resources starts in every production with checking the wall thickness. An optimal wall thickness not only guarantees perfect mechanical properties of your plastic parts, it also saves a lot of material and money!

A wall thickness that is too thick consumes material unnecessarily, and a wall thickness that is too thin causes a lot of rejects. With our wall thickness control, the die of your head is always adjusted so that the optimum amount of plastic is ejected at every point of your plastic part. And this is fully automatic and digitally visible - for a perfect and reproducible result every time!

The topic of PCR is everywhere. Do you want to process post-consumer recyclates in the future in order to meet the requirements of consumers and the specifications of the legislator? However, you are entering new territory and are worried that your machine is not ready for this? We'll make it short: We can take this worry away from you!

PCR has different properties and therefore different behavior in production. The melting temperature is different, there will be impurities, the material quality will vary, and the mechanical properties of the articles will differ from those of your virgin material. Nevertheless, thanks to years of intensive research in our technical center, we know how you can maintain a stable process. Regardless of the material quality and without optical losses. With some adjustments to your equipment and process parameters, you can easily process PCR and other alternative materials without incurring losses!

The fluorination of bottles and other containers contains PFAS. These are chemicals that can migrate through the bottle wall into the filling material. Especially in the food and cosmetics sector, this migration is – easily understandable – not wanted. But why are bottles provided with a fluorine-containing barrier layer at all if it contains these substances that we want to avoid? The layer is supposed to prevent other pollutants, chemicals or oxygen from migrating into the filling material.

The good news: There are also other technologies with the same effect, but without PFAS migration risk! With our CoEx technology, barrier layers of EVOH or PA are produced, preventing migration of PFAS, but also of all other substances. The amount for only a very small proportion of the total wall thickness of the bottle – usually around 5% – allows a full recyclability of the bottle.

Just a few years ago, single-layer bottles were the standard when there wasn’t a need for barrier properties. This is outdated. The trend toward processing recycled material is no longer voluntary. Legislation is increasingly forcing you as a manufacturer to meet recycling quotas and to close the loop. However, bottles made from recycled material should continue to be visually appealing. Especially, recycled materials in particular should not come into contact with the contents in any case. This also changes the requirements for extrusion and the extrusion head.

Multilayer systems are the solution we have been offering on the market for over 35 years. We continuously improve and adapt them to the requirements of new materials. Therefore, the conversion to a multilayer system is no problem for us! This does not require replacing the entire machine! An extension of the extrusion and a retrofit of the head will make you competitive again and secure your future with a contemporary and modern production!
